Getting your dog ready for a first stay at K9MR
A short checklist, a meet and greet with Tracy, and a few policies are all that stand between your dog and a smooth first day.

A first stay goes better when the boring parts are done early. K9 Mountain Resorts has a short three-step process for every new boarding or daycare dog, called the Pet Parent Assurance Protocol. None of it is hard, and none of it is something to leave until the night before a trip. Here's what the steps are and why each one is worth doing properly.
The three steps in order
- Create a Pawfinity account.
- Book a Meet & Greet with Tracy by texting (208) 607-9509.
- Review the K9MR Policies & Procedures before check-in.
That's the whole protocol. The account is where your dog's booking lives. The meet and greet is where your dog meets the place. The policies are where you find out exactly how things work, so nothing comes as a surprise at the door.
The order makes sense once you think about it. You set up the account first so there's a record to build on. You meet Tracy second, so the questions you have after meeting him can get answered. And you read the policies last, while the place and the people are fresh in your mind, instead of skimming them in a parking lot.
What a meet and greet is for
A meet and greet is a short visit before the real stay, arranged by text with Tracy. It's useful for both sides. Your dog gets to smell the place, hear it, and meet the person who will be looking after them while nothing is on the line. That's a lot easier than doing all of it for the first time on the morning you're leaving.
You get to ask the questions you actually have. Where will my dog sleep? How does group playtime work? What happens if my dog is shy about eating? You can also tell Tracy what no brochure would know: how your dog acts around other dogs, what spooks them, whether they bolt through doors, what they'll eat from your hand and not from a bowl. K9MR sets up custom mealtimes and treats, and the more detail you give, the better that works.
Visitors are welcome with or without a dog, so if you just want to see the place first, call ahead. Look for the white fence one mile north of Victor.
Vaccines, fixed status, and heat
A few health and safety items come up with every new dog. Proof of rabies vaccine may be required upon request, so keep your dog's vaccination paperwork somewhere you can find it quickly. K9MR also asks you to let the team know whether your dog is fixed or not. And dogs in heat should not be brought in.
That last one deserves a plan. If your female dog might be in heat around your travel dates, text Tracy before the stay instead of finding out at the door. The facility lists vaccinated playmates as one of its features, and the paperwork request is part of keeping the group healthy, so it helps to treat it as routine instead of a hassle.
Drop-off, pick-up, and payment
Drop-off is 9 to 11 AM and pick-up is 5 to 7 PM. The doors are open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM, and closed Sundays, so plan travel days with that in mind.
At check-in and check-out, please have your dog on a leash and under control. With other dogs coming and going, a leash keeps the doorway calm for everybody. Payment is due when services are complete, and a card on file is required for all bookings. K9MR accepts American Express, Visa, and MasterCard.
The 24-hour cancellation rule
Plans change, and K9MR asks for at least 24 hours' notice when yours do. Call or text (208) 607-9509. No-shows and last-minute cancellations are charged the full price of the booked service, per pet.
Per pet matters if you're bringing two dogs, because the charge applies to each one. The rule also makes more sense when you remember that boarding is quite often full. A spot held for your dog is a spot another owner couldn't book, and a day's notice gives the kennel a fair chance to offer it to someone else.
A quick prep list for the week before
- Find your dog's vaccination records and keep them handy.
- Write down your dog's feeding routine: how much, how often, and any treats to skip.
- Note anything that stresses your dog, like loud noises, strangers, or closed doors.
- Decide between daycare and boarding, and confirm the dates by text.
- Make sure your card on file is current.
None of that takes long, and it makes the meet and greet more useful because you walk in with real details. To get started, text Tracy at (208) 607-9509 and set up the meet and greet.
